Rodeo season is here! From February 25 through March 17 the days and nights will be packed full of Texas size fun. This annual event has everything including concerts, rodeo events, livestock shows and auctions, horse shows, trail rides, shopping, cook offs, kids country, a carnival and much more! Some of the special events during rodeo season include:
AG4U Day. It showcases the importance of the agriculture industry. The capstone event for AG4U Day is The Challenge, a town hall-style meeting featuring professional, educational and student leaders in the agriculture community. Open to the public, this forum is an interactive and enlightening look into what agriculture means to the world.
Armed Forces Appreciation Day. It honors the brave men and women for their service in the U.S. military. Armed forces personnel, veterans, families, friends, and the public are encouraged to come out, dress in red, white, and blue, and show appreciation for the troops, past and present.

Kathy Huber, the Houston Chronicle's gardening editor, and Randy Lemmon, popular host of AM 740 KTRH's GardenLine show will be there on Saturday. The event is at the Berry Center February 23 and 24. Tickets cost $9 each.

The Foundation for the Arts & Community Enrichment hosts a Valentine’s Dinner and Dance Friday February 8, 2013 at 7pm at Shirley Acres, 217 Woerner Rd. Entertainment for the night will be the enchanting tunes of Rob Landes.
According to his biography, Landes is widely known as a pianist, organist, arranger, conductor and published composer. He is associated with six national publishers, including Hinshaw Publishers, Sacred Music Press, Alliance Music and Fred Bock Music.
Landes collaborate with Dr. Signey Berger for eight years in writing musicals for the Children's Theatre festival at the University of Houston. They have written eight musicals, two of which have been published. In addition, in 2007 Landes collaborated with Kate Pogue on "the Shoemaker and the Christmas Elves" which was presented by Theatre Under The Stars at the Hobby Center during the Christmas Season and is an annual presentation by TUTS.

Mayor Annise Parker said, “This won’t be your typical Auld Lang Syne!” KC and the Sunshine Band will help Houston ring in 2013 and celebrate their 40th anniversary. The king of disco will be the cherry on top of a fun, fantastic celebration open to the community.
Events include fireworks at Midnight, “GlowParade” by Art Cars of Houston, Ice Skaters, Bubble Garden, and Electric Go-Go Dancers to name a few on December 31 from 7pm to 12:30 am at Discovery Green. The “GlowParade” is art on wheels, brilliantly lit and blowing fire at 8:00 p.m. This route circles Discovery Green so that all patrons can experience the beauty.
Relax in the Bubble Garden as sip champagne until close with great views of the main stage, plenty of room for dancing, and a lounge area where you can rest your boogie shoes. A Silent Disco will offer an opportunity to dance to three diverse genres of music under the lights of Maconda’s Grove.

Cypress Ranch Key Club has had a very special relationship with Special Olympics throughout the years. The club has been very busy this fall volunteering at Special Olympics events, both practices and competitions.
Student Kenzie Golladay said, “I love doing Special Olympics swimming because it gives me a way to connect and interact with the kids by doing something that I am good at and love.”
Volunteer coaches are in the water with our school district swimmers encouraging them and helping them learn different techniques and strokes to use in competition. Dozens of Key Club members worked the swim practices, all in the water alongside the athletes. Many volunteers were also Cy Ranch swimmers.

Cypress Creek FACE invites kids in preK through grade 5 to a magic and puppet show at 10 am at The entrum, 6823 Cypresswood Drive in Spring on Saturday January 19, 2013. Open to the community the event will be “fun, engaging, magic; hilarious puppets; a dynamic, professional presenter; all lead to one thing: your child having the time of their life”!
Franklin began performing magic shows and puppet shows in his childhood years. During his career, which includes teaching 8 years in the private sector and 8 years in the Texas public schools; he continued his performing in faculty plays and as a semi-professional dancer with The Woodlands Civic Ballet.
In 1999 he decided to combine his love of performing with his passion for education and Julian Franklin Productions was born; providing educational and motivational programs to schools and public libraries. Franklin quickly expanded and continue to offer services through a growing staff of performers and presenters. Franklin, “the man behind the company” continues to direct strategic operations and marketing efforts, though most of his stage time now is spent fulfilling the demand for his speaking services.

Each artwork was conceptualized and executed by the instructors with the idea of being an easy to follow piece of art for the inexperienced painter. Texas Championship Native American Pow Wow atTrader’s Village, 7979 North Eldridge Rd. will be held November 10 & 11th from 11:30 a.m. – 5 p.m. A two-day Native American Pow Wow with colorful tribal dance contests, an arts & crafts show, tipis, visiting with old friends, making new ones, honoring ceremonies, singing, and much more will be part of the 23rd Annual Texas Championship Pow Wow.
Several hundred Native Americans, representing dozens of tribes from across the United States, will take part in this celebration of their culture and heritage. The drums will beat for the dancers in full regalia of feathers, buckskin, bells and beadwork competing for prize money and awards in eighteen different dance categories. Spectators will be amazed by the precision and showmanship that even the youngest competitors display in their dancing.

The Matt Family Orchard has over 40 acres of “pick your own” fruit! They also have local honey, jams, preserves, nursery, a playground, & a 2000 square foot pavilion. Each year the Harvest Festival celebrates the Fall season with several activities:

The Harvest Festival in October requires a minimum of 15 people, a deposit and reservation. Individuals are invited to come to the pumpkin patch, farmers market (Friday and Saturday), and pick Asian persimmon. Matt Family Orchard can supply and deliver bulk pumpkins to schools, companies, churches, private homes, etc. They can provide mini pumpkins, pie pumpkins, jacks, giant pumpkins, fancy pumpkins, hay, corn stalks and gourds.
