Students from Black Elementary School recently helped find a cure for diabetes by participating in the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) Kids Walk.

Black Elementary students were informed about diabetes and its effect on children by JDRF staff and volunteers and had the opportunity to participate in discussions about developing a healthy lifestyle that can help prevent them from getting Type II Diabetes. Some students even earned incentive prizes such as kites and tents if they raised $10 or more.

Aside from participating in the walk, some of the students sold goodies at bake sales and lemonade stands in an effort to raise additional money for the cure.
