Cy-Fair resident, Brenda Csatlos, has organized a Helmet Safety Benefit after her 16 year old daughter Tara had an injury last June.
The barbecue fundraiser, intended to raise awareness about the importance of wearing a helmet while skating and riding a bicycle, is scheduled for Saturday, July 16 from 11 am to 3 pm at the Cy-Fair HEB, located at 24224 Northwest Freeway.
The BBQ lunch only costs $6 a plate. Proceeds from the event will help Tara's family with medical expenses and raise awareness so that adults and children can avoid similar injuries.

Professors Ronnie Nespeca, Clay White and Jason Moulenbelt recently gave fourteen LSC Cy-Fair students from the biology, kinesiology and Wildlife Society a unique weekend of hiking, camping and exploration of nature.
The weekend experience is part of the colleges Outdoor Adventure Learning Community who is working to get students outside and safely learning about biology and kinesiology through hands on experiences beyond the classroom.
"This is the only Learning Community currently in the system that combines kinesiology with biology," said professor Nespeca. "This is a rare and wonderful experience where students not only get credit for both classes, but are involved in one of the most active and engaged learning classrooms that they will ever encounter."
