The Garden Faire is held the fourth Saturday and Sunday each September on Mercer’s west side at the picnic area. Kid’s Korner provides families with nature activities and crafts. The two day festival is open to the community and has something fun for the whole family!

- Hat decorating with recycled goods
- Planting Seeds to take home
- Create a 3D frog
- Craft a hummingbird feeder
- Make a snake book
The event features regional plant societies with some selling carnivourous plants, local artists, crafts, and people who specialize in garden art. Fair vendors will also have things many interesting things for parents, grandparents, and gardeners alike including herbal soaps, yard art, garden furniture, garden paraphernalia, pottery, and much more. This fall, Lone Star College at Cy-Fair will offer to the public free business seminars every Wednesday.
Each one-hour class will cover a new topic to ensure success in the business world, with classes ranging from the effective utilization of the popular website Pinterest to mastering the organization of Quickbooks. The classes will be from 7:45 to 8:45 AM in Room 131, 9191 Barker Cypress Road.
On September 19, mobile commerce will be discussed. On September 26, a presentation about cloud computing will occur. Local entrepreneur Nozer Buchias will reveal his personal strategies for success on October 3. October 10 will provide a crash course on Quickbooks. Pinterest in the business community will be analyzed on October 17. The last class, which takes place on October 24, will be a refresher on productive sales techniques.

The Young Professionals of the Cy-Fair/Houston Chamber of Commerce will hold an “After Hours” networking event on August 15 from 5:30-7:30 PM at the Chamber offices at Remington's Bar in the Crowne Plaza Houston Northwest at Brookhollow.
Cy-Fair's Young Professionals promotes and encourages networking and personal development for young businesspeople in the greater Houston area. According to the Chamber's website, the mission of The Young Professionals Committee is to find effective and lasting ways to serve the communities in which they live and work.
